Consisting of a ceramic or porcelain pot with a lid, a slow cooker usually sits within a metal casing which has an electric heating element. With three settings (warm, low, and high), you are able to keep food warm, or speed up or slow down the cooking process. Running for between 3 and 10 hours, the heat provided will be constant and is particularly good for cheap cuts of meat because the cooking process causes the fibres in the meat to break down, tenderising the meat, making it perfect for anyone requiring unattended cooking.
