Your Beko fridge freezer may take a few hours to get back to the right temperature if it has recently been filled or if the door has been open for an extended period of time. However, if you notice that your fridge is too cold, it is important to assess your appliance to try and locate the issue.
The importance of keeping your fridge at the correct temperature cannot be overstated. To keep your food fresh, we recommend a fridge temperature of 3°C to 5°C. By keeping your fridge at this optimal temperature, you can ensure that your food is kept fresh and hygienic, slowing down the growth of bacteria and micro-organisms. For more information on fridge temperature, read our what temperature should a fridge be? guide.
The simplest explanation as to why your fridge is too cold is that your temperature settings may be incorrect. As aforementioned, the recommended optimal temperature for a fridge is 3°C to 5°C. To check the temperature inside your fridge, place a thermometer inside a glass of water and leave this in the middle shelf for 12 hours or overnight. The appliance will cool the contents to the right temperature, providing an accurate reading of the internal temperature. Please note: although some models feature external temperature displays on the door, this is the set temperature, not the actual temperature. If you ever have doubt, please follow the above steps. If your fridge is too cold, it may be that there is internal damage. A build-up of frost inside a fridge/freezer is caused by an interaction between warm and cold air. A crack in the door seals will also cause your appliance to overcompensate, producing more cold air to keep to fridge temperature stable. To prevent this, check your appliance’s door seals to ensure that they are not damage. If they are cracked or raised, we recommend contacting our customer service team at 0333 207 9710.
If you are experiencing issues with your fridge’s internal temperature and adjusting the temperature control does not resolve the issue, it could be that there is a problem with the appliance’s temperature control. In this case we recommend contacting our customer service team at 0333 207 9710.
Beko Larder fridges and static Fridge Freezers need to be placed in an environment which is 5 degrees Celsius and above. However, thanks to our Freezer Guard technology, Beko freezers and most Frost-free fridge freezers can be in an ambient temperature as low as -15 degrees Celsius. Whilst this technology is incredibly helpful and beneficial, the side effect of storing your food in low ambient temperatures is that some food stored in the fridge compartment could freeze. Please remember to always check the appliance manual or website specification for guidance on your appliance’s specifications.
There is no need to worry if you notice a small amount of ice in your fridge. Drops of water or ice on the back of your fridge are a completely normal part of your Beko fridge's design. They will run down the rear wall into a drip tray where they will naturally evaporate. Please note: we do not recommend letting items in the fridge come into contact with the back wall as they will divert the water and make these items wet and cause large amounts of ice to form on the back wall.
If you are concerned about the amount of ice in your fridge, please read our detailed ice in fridge guide which explains the causes and solutions to this problem.
