When cooking different dishes, it is important to set your oven at the correct temperature. By ensuring your appliance is operating at the correct temperature, you can ensure your food is cooked correctly, creating delicious meals for you and your family. To help you understand different cooking temperatures, we’ve put together this handy oven temperature conversion guide.
Depending on the type of oven you own, the measurement for temperature will vary. Whilst most ovens in the UK measure temperature in degrees Celsius, some ovens may use gas mark or even Fahrenheit. When following recipes from across the globe, it is important to understand temperature conversions as different countries use different measurements to gauge oven temperatures.
As a general rule, you can convert Celsius to Fahrenheit by following this formula: (°C × 9) /5 + 32. First, multiply the degrees Celsius by nine. Then, divide this by nine before adding 32. The answer to this equation will give you the correct temperature in Fahrenheit. For added ease, we have included the below table which converts standard temperatures for you.
Fahrenheit | Celsius | Gas Mark* |
---|---|---|
275 degrees | 140 degrees | 1 |
300 degrees | 150 degrees | 2 |
